Divisional Collecting Post Cemetery & Ext., 11 July 2024, rededication service for Capt. Valentine Knox Gilliland, 2nd Bn. The Royal Irish Rifles, who was KIA on 8 May 1915.
NO LONGER UKNOWN, BUT KNOWN AND REMEMBERED FOR EVER. REST IN PEACE.

The Service was conducted by Army Chaplain Jason Clarke of the 1st Bn. The Royal Irish Regiment. Relatives of the Captain attended the ceremony, amongst them cousin Anne Gilliland, and they were presented with the flag.

The MOD organised this ceremony, the CWGC as always provided the new headstone of which they will take care in perpetuity.

This ceremony concluded a series of 14 rededications held between July 2nd and July 11th, of which 3 of them in France.

NIETLANGER ONBEKEND, MAAR VOOR ALTIJD BEKEND EN HERINNERD. RUST IN VREDE.

De dienst werd geleid door legeraalmoezenier Jason Clarke van het 1st Bn. The Royal Irish Regiment. Familieleden van de kapitein woonden de ceremonie bij, waaronder zijn nicht Anne Gilliland. Zij kregen de vlag overhandigd. Het Ministerie van Defensie organiseerde deze ceremonie. De CWGC zorgde zoals altijd voor de nieuwe grafsteen waarvoor zij voor altijd zorg zullen dragen. Deze ceremonie vormde het einde van een reeks van 14 herinwijdingen die tussen 2 en 11 juli werden gehouden, waarvan 3 in Frankrijk.
