Burial service for two soldiers - Poelkapelle - 16/10/2025
On Thursday 16 Ocotber 2025 a burial service took place at Poelcapelle British Cemetery for an unknown British soldier and an unknown German soldier killed during the Great War.

The remains of this unknown British and this unknown German soldier were found together during the renovation of the Vrijbosroute cycle path. They appeared to have been lying in a bomb crater. The location where they were found was situated astride the Ypres-Staden railway during the First World War. No artefacts were found with the remains which could assist with their identification beyond determing that one man was British and the other German. Their remains could not be separated and so they were buried together.
